The AKtion Club is a Service Leadership Program made up of a group of individuals with developmental disabilities. The Titusville AKtion Club, sponsored by the Titusville Kiwanis Club, has 15 active members. They have a business meeting and social from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. the first Thursday of every month at St. Gabriel's Episcopal Church, located at the corner of Palm and Pine Streets in old downtown Titusville. After the business part of the meeting is adjourned the members have snacks or pizza and play Uno, Corn Hole, Scrabble or maybe work on a puzzle together. The third Thursday of every month they have a dinner meeting at different restaurants in the Titusville area. The location is proposed and voted on by the members at the business meeting.
The AKtion club raises funds by selling chips and soda at the special dances put on by Brevard County Parks and Recreation. The funds were recently used to purchase food and prepare a meal of enchiladas, Spanish rice, and refried beans for the residents of Ronald McDonald House on Alden Ave in Orlando. Other service projects include collecting pop tops for Ronald McDonald House, collecting pet food in front of grocery stores and then donating the food to the SPCA and collecting diapers for families who can't afford to buy diapers.
